Produced and directed by Lynette Zito
The Naked Truth by Dave Simpson explores the lives of five very different women who sign up for Gabby’s exotic dancing class at the local village hall. None of them have any idea what lies ahead and each of them have their own reasons for taking the class, whether it be to restore confidence in their body, get a guy, keep a guy, lose weight or embark upon a potential new career. However, when one of the women receives some devastating news, the others soon pull together and decide to turn their new skills into a fund-raising event. As each of the women’s stories unfold and unravel, they share laughter and tears in this hilarious, raunchy and ultimately moving play, celebrating strength through adversity.
Broadway World Review:
“The Naked Truth highlights one of the key components missing from contemporary theatre in Sydney: politic. … it was refreshing to see a show that was all heart. … More theatre like this, that tackles issues and emphasises the perspective of women, is needed.
The Naked Truth is recommended for ages 16+ as it contains strong language, adult themes and strong sexual references.
